Whether you’re applying for the first or the fifth time, your nerves are often the same. You want to make a good impression, but also just be yourself. At GIEC, we talk to a lot of candidates. Meanwhile, we have a good idea of what works (and what doesn’t). Therefore we would like to share 5 concrete tips that can help you with your next job application.

✅ Tip 1: Prepare your job interview well (without stress)

You really don’t need to memorize every nook and cranny of our website. But knowing what GIEC does, what we stand for and what your job would entail? That’s great. Especially if you can ask some questions right away. That shows interest and initiative. Qualities we really appreciate.

🎯 Tip 2: Be clear about what you’re looking for in a job

Do you want to work full-time? Do you like to work independently or would you rather work in a team? Feel free to include this info in your application or during the first interview. That way we immediately know if we have the same expectations

💡 Don’t just say “everything is fine” unless you are really keeping every direction open. It is easier for everyone if you are honest about your preferences.

🙋 Tip #3: Show who you really are, not who you think we’re looking for

We’re not looking for perfect answers. We want to know who you are, what energizes you and why you want to work at an SME like GIEC. Be real and sincere, even if you don’t have all the experience on paper. Motivation definitely counts too! Because whether you prefer to work with your hands or with your head, we are looking above all for people who come to work with enthusiasm.

So: talk like you are, laugh when you want to laugh, and feel free to ask a “crazy” question once. That immediately breaks the ice.

❓ Tip 4: Ask questions about the job or the team

“Do you have any questions?” is not a trick question. On the contrary: if you want to know something about the job, the team, the working hours or the atmosphere, that’s the time to ask. Asking shows interest and helps you determine whether this job really suits you.

📞 Tip 5: Make sure you can be reached after your application

Sounds logical, but it often goes wrong: leave a correct phone number and email address where we can easily reach you. And see an unknown number after your application? Then be sure to pick up: it could be GIEC.
